Tandem Press – Fine Art Printmaking Studio & Publisher

Tandem Press is a fine art printmaking studio and publisher affiliated with the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Established in 1987, the organization focuses on collaborative printmaking and works with contemporary artists to develop and produce original fine art prints.

A defining feature of Tandem Press is its collaborative production process. Invited artists work directly with professional printers and studio staff to explore different printmaking techniques and translate their artistic ideas into limited-edition works. The studio supports processes such as lithography, etching, screen printing, relief printing and other traditional or experimental approaches. This makes Tandem Press both a production facility and a creative environment for contemporary printmaking.

The website presents artists who have worked with the studio as well as individual editions and projects created through these collaborations. Visitors can explore artworks, learn about participating artists and obtain information about available prints. Tandem Press therefore also performs the role of a fine art publisher, making editions produced in the studio available to collectors and institutions.

Education and public engagement form another important part of the organization. Its connection with the University of Wisconsin–Madison supports learning, research and interaction between professional artists, students and the wider community. Tandem Press is not a conventional commercial printing company or general online art marketplace. Its central purpose is the creation, publication and presentation of original contemporary fine art prints through direct collaboration between artists and highly specialized printmakers.
